April TBR '15

As I search for pictures of the books on my TBR list, I've come to the realization that I've chosen a fairly simple month.  More than half of the books are under 250 pages or have mainly pictures. This might be due to the fact that I had the hardest time picking books out for April. There is a good possibility I will read more for this month, and that would be great because I need, need, NEED to get my TBR for books I've owned over a year way down, I'm thinking I'll add at least two to the pile every month from these veteran books. It's high time they pushed out one of my memories to make room in my brain for their patiently-waiting stories.

Or, I'll find myself in a reading slump and just lock myself in my spare bedroom, start rocking back-and-forth, slathering naked books all over my face and scream "Appeal to ME!!"

These are what I hope to accomplish in April:

I actually already finished this one and am enamored. This book, this author, make me feel like it's okay to say a-hole comments...well, at least from behind the protection of my window curtains where I can easily hide in case the person at whom the comments are directed actually hears what I said.

I couldn't find the cover for the book I actually own, so this will have to do.

February Book Haul

February Book Haul.  Went a little crazy this month, but it doesn't feel so bad when it's done over the whole month.  I should really consider going on this book diet I keep hearing about...

Maybe next year.

Joseph Delaney, The Last Apprentice Series books 2 (Curse of the Bane), 6 (Clash of the Demons), 13 (Fury of the Seventh Son)



I've been picking these up as they come into Half Price Books.  Right now I only have a few, but I seem to find a new one with every trip.  Too bad I also come out with an additional six books with every trip to the bookstore.

I've only read the first in the series so far and it is a fun story.  Not too challenging (I believe it's MG) and I love the growing relationship between the Spook and his apprentice.

Dr. Seuss, The Lorax



I picked this one up mainly to continue building my son's collection, though I have actually never read this one before.  I do love me some Seuss.

I will un-haul this book before I ever read it.  Hopefully, by saying this, I'll prove myself wrong.

Christmas Book Haul

I realize I may be a bit late with this haul, but I've been sick and just plain lazy.  The following books were technically presents received from my husband, though I picked them out, wrapped them and placed them under our sad tree this year.

It still counts and I am so, so excited about each and every one!

The first six I picked up from Half Price Books...an AMAZING bookstore that lets no book feel unwanted.

In no particular order:

I thought I already had this one, but it turns out...nope.

These two just look SO amazing.  I love any kind of mythology, and these caught my eye with a fishhook.

I enjoyed Moore's Lamb so much, I just had to pick up another of his works.  I'm not even interested in what it's about, this author is so clever and way too funny.

And again.

The sequel to The False Prince.  The first was an excellent read and I highly recommend it.










The rest of these were purchased from Barnes & Noble

The Giver left off with such a crazy cliffhanger, I can't believe I waited this long before picking up this sucker.  I'm not much of a dystopian-world fan, but this one was exceptional.

Such a wonderful trilogy (I think there will be only three).

Elemental magic, defend the realm, kick-ass female protagonist...sign me up this instant.

I don't even need to read the first to know imma love it!

The synopsis for this reminded me a bit of Diana Wynne Jones' Chrestomanci Chronicles (or, at least, The Lives of Christopher Chant) and I loves me some Diana Wynne Jones

...And the second

And then there was this series! This series...This series.  Why did I wait so long to read the first, and why am I not starting the others this very second? I have no answer for the first, but as to the second (of my own questions) I can only say I don't want this story to come to an end.

You must start reading this immediately if you haven't already.
